🍓 Necklaces Made of Summer: How a Wild Strawberry Field Became My Sweetest Print Pattern

Ahhh, June. That magical time of year when school was out, shoes were optional, and my biggest responsibility was not burning my nose while running wild in the sunshine. ☀️ And for me, June always meant one thing (okay, two things—barefoot freedom and berries): wild strawberries.

Every summer, I’d escape to my grandparents’ countryside ranch—the kind of place where time slows down, the butter tastes better, and cows basically have their own personalities. 🐄💬 But the real treasure wasn’t in the fridge or even in Grandma’s famous pancakes. It was at the edge of the field, right where the grass waved goodbye and the forest whispered hello.

That’s where the magic happened. 🌾🌲

🍓Tiny, Juicy Jewels at the Edge of the World

If you’ve ever tasted a real wild strawberry—not the supermarket giants the size of your fist, but those tiny ruby-red wonders that grow like secrets in the grass—you know exactly what I mean. These berries don’t scream, they whisper. They don’t beg to be picked; they wait patiently for the berry-obsessed child with a sharp eye and sticky fingers. (Hi, it’s me.)

There, crouched like a forager on a berry mission, I’d carefully string them on a piece of dry grass or thread. 🍓➡️🍓➡️🍓 Until, ta-daa! A wild strawberry necklace fit for a woodland princess—or at least, a nine-year-old with grass in her hair and dirt on her knees.

🧵 From Forest Necklaces to Fabric Patterns

Fast-forward a few decades (and a few hundred strawberry necklaces later), and I still can’t forget that feeling: sun-warmed strawberries, tickly grass, and the joy of finding something sweet and tiny that no one else saw.

So when I started designing fabric prints, it was only a matter of time before those berry-filled memories spilled out of my sketchbook. I knew exactly what I wanted to create: a wild strawberry field frozen in time. 🍓✨

Delicate vines, soft green leaves, tiny blossoms, and of course, those perfect strawberries—hidden here and there like secret candy. My goal was to capture the joy of that moment just before you pop one in your mouth. The anticipation. The sweetness. The nostalgia.
